Artist's Comments

and Her Last Treasure

Normally I don't do contests, but if the person running it is nice and happens to be someone whose acquaintance I've made (if only in the internet way) then I may be persuaded to participate. Plus, the topic wasn't excluding those of us who aren't traditional artists and it interests me. And so this is my entry into *xAerisx's contest; it was fun.

The theme was 'white' and while our patron says that for her, white inspires thoughts of snow, purity and lace, white for me has always had a feeling of loss, or a sense of sadness. So here we have the starfish, frozen in ice, holding dear her last treasure -- made all the more precious by the loss of all others.

[Edit: Won the contest. Thanks to everyone who participated!]

Well done, man. I knew you wouldn't let me down. :aww: This is conveyed beautifully.

:tea: Apple Spice?
It's beautiful... but it's so sad...

I love art with a story behind it.

Occasionally, by accident, I am a jerk. When I am, please let me know, and, if the situation warrants it, hit me with a blunt object.
When I first looked my focus went straight to the diamond in the center of the starfish. Interesting how our perspectives on a piece change depending on our focus. Very nice work, really makes me think of ice and the north.

What would firefighters do if the fire hydrants were on fire?
So beautiful...
I really don't know what else to say.

We, as humans, were given a voice to speak. To bottle up your feelings is to murder the spirit.
It took lots of hard work to notice the starfish.

It looks like a kid making a snow angel. Makes me think about what winters up here have been.

The star feels loving.

It's the diamond that's cold.

Bite me. Very hard. Right there.
the outside bit is very "cuddly" feeling... like big clusters of delicate petals. the starfish is very cutie patotie and happy feeling to me and then the dimond... the dimond is not happy.. not happy at all... very sad and kinda angry at someone..

Over all: this is a beautiful piece

I do always like to hear about the different things people see in my fractals.
